![]() ![]() It's a stupid PR backfire that is Blizzard's fault on every level including how people are reacting. So in that context Blizzard announces something that the kind of people who go to Blizzcon obviously won't be excited about and it's actually their big announcement for this year, proving one more time how detached Blizzard as a company has become from the fanbase they cultivated (seriously just ask WoW players this has been a hot topic for literally months). You can't just pretend this isn't a factor. ![]() I mean seriously we live in an age where virtually all of us are bombarded on social media with this kind of stuff on a daily basis because it works very, very well for companies. Point being it's about as nerdy and emotionally involved as it can possibly get given the context of Blizzard's game franchises.īlizzard wants people to be emotionally involved because that's very profitable and creates loyal fans for their stuff. When Metzen still was active he literally made thousands of people chant "FOR THE HORDE". Lots of people in cosplay, lots of panels on nerdy lore. I mean Blizzcon is kind of the fandom mecca for their franchises. Most of the "rah rah angry entitled manchild gamers were a mistake" posts are not really surprising but being oblivious to the context does kind of surprise me. I get the feeling that there's a massive lack of context about Blizzcon on resetera. What were they thinking?" does that mean those movie-goers are too entitled of an audience? This vilifying when a majority voice wants to throw out criticism is awful. So when a movie is announced and it looks terrible and if people say, "Wow, that movie looks terrible. the whole display was disgusting to me.ĮDIT: Also, this whole "entitled" bullshit is such a terrible argument. Through and through, this just looks like a cash grab and there's nothing wrong with that. I have it extremely hard to believe THIS was a product they felt, "Yes, this is what the people want." the Blizzard we all grew to love would delay or cancel games that didn't meet their standards. But they way they announced it and chose to have it be an anchor to their annual fan-event OVER the Warcraft Remake announcement clearly illustrates the disconnect.Īlso, I'll say it again. ![]()
